|AA&EE Annual Chapter Meeting
RECAP: Salzburg, Austria | November 8-10, 2019
On Saturday the day began at 9.30am after breakfast with a great program dedicated to the Salzburg/Austrian hotel markets and digital marketing strategies. First Christian Walter, PDP ’08 and Managing Director at PKF Hotelexperts, gave an overview of the hotel market together with commentary by Daniel Szeleényi and Peter Lorenz, General Manager of the Grand Sheraton Salzburg, who joined us for the day.
Our keynote speaker, Alex Schuster, Head of Digital at 25Hours Hotels, gave an interactive and insightful presentation on what the brand is doing to capture the attention of guests online – often by going offline! After his presentation Marcello Cicalò, GMP ’17 and Corporate Director of Sales and Marketing at the Italian Hospitality Collection, joined the stage and we discussed approaches brands can take to craft effective and successful digital marketing strategies.
The conversation took us into lunch and then the members meeting followed, where we discussed several items of news for the chapter:
That evening we met for dinner at suite 403 of the Hotel Sacher Salzburg where Hani El Sharkawi, PDP ’13 and Director at the Sacher School of Excellence, took us on a “Sacher Safari” combining a hotel tour with a dining experience.
During the dessert course in the Sacher Cafè, Christian held the second annual impromptu auction to raise funds for the chapter and EMEA/MMH scholarships. Through the generosity of our members we raised €4.050 from several hotel stays and experiences. Thank you to all who participated!
Naturally at the end of the evening the group wound up at the lobby bar at the Hotel Sacher where conversations and connecting continued, closing in on another fun, fruitful and successful CHS, AA&EE annual chapter meeting.
