On Tuesday August 7, 2018, the CHS Georgia Chapter hosted five current Hotel School students for pizza at the Mellow Mushroom – Brookhaven. Uma Patel ’22, Nina Bachich ’19, Kevin O’Gara ’20, Keval Rama ’21, and Hyun Ho Lee ’19 were five of an estimated dozen Hotelies interning in Atlanta during the summer of 2018.

On July 26, 2018 the CHS Georgia chapter entertained current Hotel School students that are interning in Atlanta for the summer. The event was held at The Southern Gentleman restaurant in Buckhead.

On Saturday July 21, 2018, Hotelies gathered at Mayorga Organics for a factory tour and coffee tasting. Mayora Organic’s purpose is to eliminate systemic poverty in rural Latin America through responsible trade of artisanal organic foods. Their team has dedicated their lives to creating a SUSTAINABLE business model that puts FARMERS first as they believe that HEALTHY farming communities will produce better quality products that ultimately will benefit their valued customers. We got a full tour of their roasting facility and tasted 8 different coffees.
DC/Baltimore Hotelies Grab a Cup of Coffee
In partnership with CBRE, CHS South Florida Chapter hosted 136 alumni and industry friends on May 16, 2018 to celebrate CHS 90th Anniversary. The event was scheduled to coincide with the CHRIS/HOLA conference and it took place at Boulud Sud at the JW Marriott in downtown Miami. Complimentary past hors d’oeuvres and a welcome drink were served and each attendee left with a CHS anniversary gift.
South Florida Chapter Celebrates CHS at 90.
On Monday, April 30, the Chicago Chapter of CHS and Hirman Ahmad MMH ’15 of ROYCE’ Chocolate hosted a Chicago, Cornell, Champagne and Chocolate Event at the ROYCE’ Chocolate location in the Shops of North Bridge in celebration of the 90th year of the Cornell Hotel Society. This VIP Japanese chocolate tasting event was complete with a variety of ROYCE famous chocolate delicacies inclusive of the famous ROYCE’ Nama chocolates, infused with prestige liquors, matcha chocolate delicacies, ROYCE’ famous chocolate dipped potato chips, chocolate dipped cookies, chocolate covered almonds and pralines. The evening was complete with a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic Japanese beverages and guests each left with a collection of ROYCE’ Chocolate novelties.
On May 11, 2018, members of the Toronto Chapter gathered at the Duke of Cornwall Pub to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Cornell Hotel Society.

On Tuesday March 7, 2018, the CHS Nevada Chapter hosted a reception in conjunction with the SHA sponsored HR in Hospitality Conference. The event was held at Rose Rabbit Lie inside the Cosmopolitan Hotel. Special guests included Hotel School Professors Bruce Tracey and Dave Sherwyn, along with Professors Harry Katz and Richard Hurd from ILR.

On Thursday, February 27, 2018, the CHS Georgia chapter toured the new Omni Hotel at the Battery. The Battery is a multi-use development that is anchored by the new stadium for the Atlanta Braves baseball team. After some hors d’oeuvres and drinks, the 11 Hotelies and guests in attendance toured the multiple public spaces, guest rooms, and suites of the property, many of which have direct views into the baseball stadium. Thank you to Charlie Muller ’81 for making the introduction to the property management.
