CHS New England Tours New Boutique Hotel

The New England Chapter hosted a tour and reception at Boston’s newest boutique hotel, the 163-room Hyatt Centric Faneuil Hall Boston. Property management provided attendees guided tours of the hotel’s well-designed, stylish guestrooms, its modern public areas, as well as its back of house. The 25 alumni and guests convened in the hotel’s restaurant and bar, Bar Mercato, for a reception to toast the new addition to the local lodging market.

CHS Georgia Hosts Hunter Conference Reception

On Wednesday, March 20, 2019, the CHS Georgia Chapter hosted its 4th Annual Hunter Hotel Conference Reception at White Oak Kitchen & Cocktail.  Our host for the event was Alan LeBlanc ’84.  Approximately 50 Hotelies from across the country attending the conference, and their guests, enjoyed fine food and beverages while networking and catching up.

CHS New England Spring 2019 Reception at Alcove, one of Boston newest restaurants in the West End, to bid farewell to winter and welcome the spring season. Two past Chapter Presidents, Reed Woodworth ‘84 and Andrea Foster ’96, attended the event to report back on their exciting trip to Ithaca for HEC and the Annual CHS Meeting.

CHS Japan Celebrates New Years

CHS Japan held an Annual General Meeting & New Year’s Party on Friday, February 8, 2019.  We were pleased to have Ms. Meg Keilbach, Associate Dean of Alumni Affairs and Development at School of Hotel Administration, as our special guest and enjoyed her presentation on what’s happening at Cornell and The Hotel School lately.  About 60 Hotelies gathered for the event at Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo, one of Tokyo’s newest hotels that opened last year.

The Deans Visit DC

On Wednesday, February 27, 2019 S.C. Johnson College of Business Dean Kevin Hallock and SHA Dean Kate Walsh spoke to a room packed with alumni, students, and friends of Cornell in Washington D.C.  CHS Global President Dexter Wood ‘87 moderated the conversation.  Special thank you to David Pollin ’90 for hosting the event at the Canopy by Hilton in North Bethesda, MD.

Eastern European Alumni Gather For Breakfast

On February 21, 2019, Hotelies attending the Adria Hotel Forum gathered for breakfast at the Hyatt Regency Belgrade.  Thanks to Silvija Iliskovic Balagovic for organizing breakfast at this beautiful venue!

CHS Singapore Celebrates Chinese New Year

On February 20, 2019, the Singapore chapter celebrated the Chinese New Year at Madame Fan in the J.W. Marriott hotel.

CHS New England Chapter Holiday Party 2018

On January 22, 2019, the New England Chapter raised a glass to the holidays and the New Year at their Annual Holiday Party held at State Street Provisions in downtown Boston. The festive event, complete with a silent auction and raffle, is the largest contributor to the chapter’s scholarship fund and this year was no different. With attendees coming from all six New England states, the event drew over 70 alumni and guests.

CHS Reception at FITUR Madrid 2019

Fifty tourism professionals attended the annual Cornell reception held in conjunction with FITUR Madrid.  This year’s event was held on January 23, and once again sponsored by Lars van der Wettern and Albert Grau.  In attendance were Alexandre de Almeida, the 2017 Hotelier of the Year in Portugal, and Gabriel Wohlgeschaffen who will be attending the GMP program this year in Ithaca.  Hotelies in attendance included Xulio Rey Vasquez, Mario Kiefer, Helena Burstedt, Jorge Manzur, Paloma Martinez, Ana Belen Prim, and Julio Delgado.
