In Arizona, spring means baseball! Hotelies from the CHS Arizona Chapter gathered at the Salt Fields in Scottsdale for a Spring Training game between the Oakland A’s and the Colorado Rockies.
On Thursday, March 23, the Washington DC/Baltimore Chapter held their annual Hotel Industry Forum at the DoubleTree Hotel in Bethesda, MD. The theme for this year’s event was “The Evolution of Hotel Brands.” A panel of industry experts shared their insights with 75 alumni and industry leaders.

The annual HICAP Update conference in Singapore always presents a great opportunity to connect with fellow Hotelies from near and far. This year was no exception as a number of regional alumns were in Singapore for the three-day long event. Leveraging JW Marriott South Beach’s close proximity to the HICAP’s venue, the CHS Singapore family gathered for a casual reception at the Court Martial Bar, which also served as a launching point for property tours throughout the night. With approximately 35-40 members in attendance, the event proved to be another roaring success for the Singapore chapter and we already look forward to next year’s reception.
Members of the German Chapter enjoyed dinner and a tour of the innovative HafenCity in Hamburg. The Hotelies visited the 25 Hours Hotel Hafencity, the Ameron Hotel Speicherstadt, and the Westin Hamburg Elbphilharmonie. On Friday, February 17, 2017, the Tokyo and Kansai chapters gathered together to celebrate the New Year. The event was held on the top floor of the Andaz Tokyo. Andaz General Manager Ross Cooper, and Hyatt Regional Vice President Mr. Abe welcomed CHS to the hotel. The Hotelies in attendance appreciated the amazing buffet of food and drinks while enjoying the breathtaking view.

On February 23, the Rocky Mountain chapter hosted their annual Denver Hospitality Summit. This year’s event was sponsored by the law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck (BHFS). Sage Hospitality hosted the seminar at their new Halcyon Hotel in Cherry Creek. Over 100 Hotelies and local hoteliers were in attendance.

On February 27, the CHS Kansai Chapter welcomed Professor and Mrs. Rohit Verma with a reception at Kyoto University. A total of 36 Cornellians and their guests attended the event. Since the reception was held at the Kyoto Hotel Okura, the president of the Okura Hotel Chain attended the event. You can image how impressive the food buffet was!!
Dozens of Hotel School alumni and student leaders attended the Cornell Alumni Leadership Conference (CALC) from February 3 to 4, 2017 in Baltimore, MD. The Hotelies were there because they are class officers, Cornell Club leaders, or CHS leaders.
On Friday night, February 3, CHS hosted a private dinner for all Hotelies in attendance at “Wit & Wisdom”, the Michael Mina restaurant in the Four Seasons Baltimore Hotel. Thank you to Ed Evans ’74, Executive VP & Chief Human Resources Officer, for generously subsidizing the event, and Raj Chandnani ’95, WATG | Wimberly Interiors Vice President Strategy, for organizing the dinner.
